Visit the ALiS Registration Page
Create your individual account

Navigate to the ALiS portal and fill in the requested registration information, then click Register.

Log In & Select "Apply for a New License"
Left-hand navigation menu

Log in with the username and password you just created. From the left-hand menu, click Apply for a New License.

Select the appropriate license type:

Analyst / Technician
Provisional – Analyst / Technician
Temporary – Analyst / Technician

Then select the appropriate Forensic Discipline(s) and click Next.

Fill in Application Information
Fee waiver criteria and military status

Fill in the requested information on this screen, including Fee Waiver Criteria. Select whether you are a Military applicant or Not applicable. Click Next.

Enter Address & Contact Information

Fill in your mailing address and other contact information. Click Next.

Add Academic Education & Employment Details
Transcripts required for each degree

For each academic education entry, you will need to upload your transcript. If the Commission already has a transcript on file for a particular degree, you may upload a blank page to bypass the requirement.

Then enter your Employment Details.

Multiple locations? If your laboratory has multiple locations, make it clear in the laboratory name field which specific location you are associated with.

Answer the required Yes/No questions for each employment detail entry, then click Next.

Enter Other State Licensing & Certifications

Enter any other state licensing information or relevant certifications. Click Next.

Answer the Background Questions
Answer truthfully — YES responses require supplemental information

Answer each question on the screen. If you mark YES for any question, you will be prompted by on-screen instructions to provide supplemental information. Click Next.

Sign the Attestation & Submit

Sign the attestation and click Submit Application. The next screen will direct you to payment.

Complete Payment

Follow the on-screen prompts to complete payment. Once payment is complete, a confirmation screen will appear.

Upload Required Documents on Confirmation Screen
Mandatory Legal Course proof & payment receipt

On the confirmation screen, upload proof that you completed the Mandatory Legal and Professional Responsibility Course. You may also upload your payment receipt here.

Emails to expect: You'll receive one confirmation email when your application is submitted, and a second when it is approved.

Renew a License
Renew your current license up to 90 days before its expiration date.

Log In & Select "Renew"
After receiving a renewal notice from the Commission

After receiving your renewal notice, log in to ALiS. From the left-hand menu, select Renew. The application type and requested action will be pre-selected. Click Next.

Renewal window: You can renew up to 90 days before your license expires.

Review Personal Info & Fee Waiver

Review your personal information and select your fee waiver type. Click Next. Then verify your mailing address and contact information and click Next.

Review Academic History & Employment Details
Upload transcripts as needed

Review your academic history. For each academic entry, upload your transcript — or a blank page if the Commission already has it on file.

Enter your updated Employment Details. If your laboratory has multiple locations, specify your location clearly in the name field.

Enter Continuing Forensic Education (CFE) Details
32 total hours required; at least 16 must be discipline-specific

Add your CFE entries. You may add them manually or select from a pre-populated list by clicking Click Here. For each entry, include:

  • Course title
  • Date
  • Provider name
  • Total number of hours
  • Any relevant certificates or agendas
⚠️ CFE requirement: Analysts must have 32 total hours, with at least 16 being discipline-specific.

Click Add for each entry, then click Next when finished.

Enter Other State Licensing Information

Enter any other state licensing information. Click Next.

Answer Background Questions
Answer all questions truthfully and candidly

Answer each question on the screen. If you mark YES, you will be prompted to provide supplemental information. You must answer all questions truthfully — you will attest to their accuracy before submission.

Sign the Attestation & Submit

Sign the attestation and click Submit Application. You can choose to pay now or submit and pay later.

⚠️ Important: Your license application will not be approved without the required payment.

Complete Checklist Items on Confirmation Screen
Upload Mandatory Legal Course proof & payment receipt

The next page displays checklist items that must be completed before your application is approved. Upload proof you completed the Mandatory Legal and Professional Responsibility Course. You may also add or modify CFE entries and upload your payment receipt here.

Supervisor Submits Proficiency Monitoring Certification
Your supervisor must submit this directly to the Commission

Your supervisor must submit an updated Proficiency Monitoring Certification Form directly to the Commission through ALiS. This is separate from your own submission.

Once approved: Check the Commission's public online database of licensees to confirm your profile accurately reflects your forensic discipline and dates of licensure.

You'll receive a confirmation email upon submission and another when your renewal is approved. Don't forget to verify your public profile after approval.

Apply for an Exam Date & Time
For individuals scheduling their own exam — not lab- or university-proctored exams.

Log In & Select "Apply for Exam"
Create an account first if this is your first time in ALiS

From the left-hand side of the home page, select Apply for Exam. The "License Exam Application" will be automatically selected. Click Next.

Verify Personal & Contact Information

Verify your personal information and click Next. Then verify your address and contact information and click Next.

Select Your Reason for Testing

Under Additional Information, select your reason for testing. Click Next. Enter your responses to each question, then click Next.

Sign the Attestation & Submit

On the Attestation screen, check the box to certify your information is accurate. Enter your name and the current date in their respective boxes. Click Submit Application.

Note Your Reference Number
Two confirmation emails will follow

The confirmation screen will display a reference number. Save it for your records.

Emails to expect: You will receive a confirmation email with a summary of your exam application, followed by a second email confirming your exam date and time.

Watch for two emails: one confirming your application and a second with your scheduled exam date and time.

Replace a Card or License Certificate
Request a replacement for a lost, damaged, or updated license card or certificate.

Log In & Select "Replace Card or License Certificate"

From the left-hand menu, click Replace Card or License Certificate. Select which item you need replaced, then click Next.

Verify Personal & Contact Information

Review your personal information, then click Next. Verify your address and contact information, then click Next. Review your license details and click Next.

Select Reason for Replacement & Enter Display Name

Under Additional Items, select a reason for replacement. Enter the name you would like displayed on the license certificate or card. Click Next.

Sign the Attestation & Submit

Sign the attestation and click Submit Application. You can pay your invoice now or choose Submit and Pay Later.

Save Your Reference Number

You will receive a confirmation email containing your reference number. Save it for your records.

Pay an Outstanding Invoice
Review and pay any outstanding licensing fees in ALiS.

Select "Pay Invoice(s)" from the Menu

From the left-hand menu, select Pay Invoice(s). Your current outstanding invoices will be displayed for review.

Select Invoice(s) to Pay
Invoices of the same revenue type can be paid together

On the right-hand side of the screen, select which invoice(s) you want to pay. Invoices must be paid individually unless they share the same revenue type. Click Pay.

Enter Payment Information & Submit

Enter your payment information, complete the human verification, then click Submit Payment.

✅ Payment Complete!

Your invoice has been paid. Use the Print Receipt function to download a copy for your records.

Print a Receipt
Access and print receipts for any payments made in ALiS.

Log In & Click "Print Receipt"

Log in to ALiS. From the left-hand menu, click Print Receipt.

Select & Print Your Receipt

From this screen, you'll be able to view and print receipts for any payments made in ALiS. Select the payment you need a receipt for and print.

✅ Receipt Printed!

Your receipt has been printed or saved.

Change or Add a Forensic Discipline
Add, change, or remove a discipline from your license.

Select "Change or Addition of Forensic Discipline"

From the left-hand menu, select Change or Addition of Forensic Discipline. Select whether you want to add/change a discipline or remove one. Click Next.

Verify Existing Information & Select Discipline

Verify that your existing information is correct. Select the discipline you would like to add, change, or remove. Click Next.

Review Personal & Contact Information

Review your personal information, then click Next. Verify your address and contact information, then click Next.

Confirm Disciplines & Notify Supervisor
Supervisor must submit a revised Proficiency Monitoring Certificate

Add the discipline(s) that should appear on your current license. Your supervisor will need to submit a revised Proficiency Monitoring Certificate. Click Next.

Sign the Attestation & Submit

Sign the attestation and click Submit Application. You will receive a confirmation email with a reference number.

A confirmation email with your reference number is on its way. Remind your supervisor to submit the revised Proficiency Monitoring Certificate.

Change Name on License
Update the name displayed on your license with supporting documentation.

Click "Change Name" from the Menu

From the left-hand menu, click Change Name. The "Application for Updating Name on License" will be automatically selected. Click Next. Your current information will be displayed at the top of the screen.

Enter New Name & Reason for Change

Enter your new name and the reason for the change.

Upload Supporting Documents
e.g. marriage certificate, court order

Click Documents (0) on the right side of the page. Then click AddChoose File. Select your supporting document and click Upload.

04
Sign the Attestation & Submit

Sign the attestation and click Submit Application. A confirmation screen with a reference number will appear. You will also receive a confirmation email.

Your request is in. Check your email for a confirmation with your reference number.
